AINP is an economic immigration program operated by the Government of Alberta with the Government of Canada’s department of IRCC. It includes the following streams:

Strategic Recruitment:  You can apply on your own (without an employer) under one of three different category options:

• Compulsory and Optional Trades Category: to qualify under this category you need to:
  • Be a temporary foreign worker
  • Have a valid trade certificate in a compulsory or optional trade in Alberta issued or recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT)
• Engineering Occupations Category: to qualify for this category you need to:
  • Be a temporary foreign worker with Alberta work experience
  • Hold an eligible engineering occupation
• Post-Graduate Worker Category: to qualify for this category, you need to:
  • Have a Post-Graduation Work Permit
  • Be currently working in Alberta
  • Have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Alberta

Employer-Driven: This stream is for those who have been offered a full-time job from an Alberta employer and are one of the 3 following sub-categories:

• Skilled Workers
• International Graduate
• Semi-Skilled Worker
